Hello!
My name is Anneli Shi-Hui Xie (b.1997), and I’m a multidisciplinary creative with a dual B.A. in Architecture and Urban Studies from Wellesley College.
a.s.x is my collection of thoughts, ideas, knowledge, and feelings that have tickled my mind; that have influenced me, guided me, and shaped me into who I am. Here, you’ll find all the papers I wrote in college, diary- and letter excerpts that are deeply personal, and content that I’ve written for work. As an introvert, this is me trying to communicate a more holistic version of myself – an antithesis to the curated likes of social media.
In essence, this is my paper trail – and in extension, a place for exploration and curiosity.
Enjoy your stay. :-)
How?
a.s.x uses AJAX (asynchronous javascript and XML) to randomize articles every time you refresh the home page. This means that each time you enter the website, you’ll be shown a different piece of writing.
For more structure, each article is tagged and categorized into topics and other relevant things. You can find a list of all tags and their related articles by clicking on index.
Why?
I’ve always loved writing; and I’ve always been fascinated by the things we leave behind and the story they tell about us. And by how things that others leave behind come to influence us and our own worldview. This is also an attempt at understanding myself better. And, of course, when AI comes to take over – here is a chunk of my mind to replicate and emulate me. ;-)
When?
a.s.x collects writing from 2016 – present day, so from age 19 and up.
Where?
a.s.x is heavily inspired by digital gardens – online spaces at the intersection of a notebook and a blog, where digital gardeners share seeds of thoughts to be cultivated in public. I want to thank alisa.wtf – a digital garden serving as a platform for learning and creative pursuits – for bringing digital gardens to my attention.
